Practical Informations

 

Formalities: Valid passport 6 months after the return and visas at requiring of the Malian embassy  in your country.

 

Health:

An international certificate of vaccination is obligatory  against  yellow fever for 10 years necessary  for all  passengers except children of less one year. It is also advisable to observe the prevention against paludism. Ask council to your doctor who will get an ordinance to you.

     Not to drink the water of the tap on the other hand, no problem for the   

    crudenesses and the fruits in     the hotels. Food is simple but tasty.

 

Languages

Official language: French; many local languages of which the most used is bambara.

 

Money:

The local money is FCFA.

    1 EURO = 655,957 FCFA

    $ USD:  fluctuating parity.

 

Visas:

The indentity card in rule or the passport valid is enough for the citizens to the Member States to CEDEAO and Algeria, Cameroon, Andorra, Monaco, Chad, Gambia, Morocco, Mauritania, South Africa and Tunisia. A passport with visa of entry and stay for all the other countries.

The extensions and the visas long stay are granted by the General direction of the National police force to Bamako.

For obtaining the visa of entry and stay in Mali, to address himself to the embassies of Mali.

 

Climate:

 2 seasons: The dry season is from November to June and the rainy season from June to October. The climate is very sunny and the temperature reaches in any season 30° the day.

The weather is fresh from December to February and  the nights can be cold especially in the area of Tombouctou and along the Niger river.

The rains during the wet season are not constant far from there and are not a large handicap for the trip.

 The high tourist season starts from December and finishes in April. The small tourist season is from July to November.

Light and comfortable. The Africans do not appreciate the too short shorts, naked backs...
